We are currently recruiting for a Aboricultural Health, Safety & Environmental Assistant
Reporting to the H&S Manager, we are seeking a proactive and dedicated Health and Safety Assistant to join our Health & Safety department. The role involves ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and implementing best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
- Safety Compliance: Monitor and enforce adherence to health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations relevant to the arboriculture industry.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments of work sites and activities to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures to mitigate risks.
- Equipment Inspection and Maintenance: Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and certification of arboriculture equipment, ensuring that all tools and machinery meet safety standards and are in good working condition.
- Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with the arboriculture team, management, and external stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and encourage proactive participation in safety initiatives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Keep abreast of changes in health and safety legislation and industry standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and corrective actions taken. Prepare regular reports for management review.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in health and safety, preferably in the arboriculture or related field.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certification in health and safety (e.g. IOSH Managing safely, SMSTS)
- Arboricultural background essential
- Driving licence essential
