Current Vacancy:Head Mechanic/Workshop Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Head Mechanic/Workshop Manager

We are looking for an experienced mechanic to manage our workshop and our fleet of vehicles and plant. The Workshop Manager will play a key role in ensuring our fleet operates smoothly and contributes to the overall success of the organisation.

Responsibilities:

    • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the workshop.
    • Managing repairs and maintenance of our fleet including HGVs, Valtra Forestry Tractors, whole tree chippers, excavators with tree Shears, Timberwolf Chippers, Specialist arboricultural vehicles, MEWPs and specialist recycling equipment.
    • Perform hands-on day to day vehicle and plant repairs.
    • Keeping comprehensive service/repair records
    • Supervise workshop trainee and provide guidance and support.
    • Tracking faults and breakdowns and monitoring vehicle/plant performance and implementing improvements.
    • Managing servicing and vehicle MOT’s
    • Working with operational team to prioritise and schedule work orders.
    • Organising repairs and servicing of chainsaws and other smaller arboricultural equipment
    • Maintain inventory of parts, workshop supplies and equipment
    • Ensuring PUWER and LOLER checks, and other compliance checks are completed in a timely fashion.
    • Ensuring the workshop operates in line with our safe systems of work, and all legislative and H&S processes are followed.
    • Out of hours and weekend work is required on occasions.

Must Demonstrate the Following Competencies: 

    • You are an excellent multi – tasker and thrive on being busy. We have an ever-changing workload, and you are there to maximise the productivity and efficiency of the workshop team.
    • 10 Years plus as a mechanic, with experience of workshop management and extensive knowledge of vehicle, machinery, and equipment maintenance including HGV’s.
    • Technical/professional qualifications are advantageous.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Strong organisational and time management skills
    • Effective communication and leadership abilities
    • Commercial acumen and the ability to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
    • Commitment to safety and compliance
    • Full training will be provided.
